Rick Jones

Rick Jones was raised as an Air Force brat, born in Bermuda, and then stationed at several locations across the Midwest. The family was then sent to Germany for four years and then back to the Midwest eventually landing in Del Rio, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1977. While in high school, he played the tuba in the marching band.

He attended Texas Tech University earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1981. After graduation, he was hired by DuPont and assigned to the Ingleside, Texas plant. While there, he met his future wife, Lisa, at a church single young adult group. DuPont subsequently assigned him to several plants in the north. After a rather large snowstorm, Rick asked his supervisor for a transfer back to Texas and that he would even go to Beaumont, so that is where he was sent. He was eventually transferred to the Victoria site in 2001 where he and Lisa (who owns a sewing business) have lived ever since.

The Victoria site was sold as Invista in 2004 and he retired from that company in 2017. He then worked for Novus International helping design a plant that was to be built in Bloomington. He retired completely in 2019.

Rick is an active member at Fellowship Bible Church where he serves as an Elder. He and Lisa are also the leaders of the High School Youth Group. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Victoria Bach Festival. His hobbies include playing golf and playing the bagpipes.

Rick was elected to the VISD Board of Trustees for District 5 in 2023. He is a firm believer in providing a solid education for all students. Preparing them for life by giving them the knowledge and teaching them the skills that they need to be successful in life. Every student deserves the opportunity to better themselves.
