District Strategic Plan

The Victoria ISD Strategic Planning Committee was created by the Victoria ISD Board of Trustees and administration as part of the process to develop a Strategic Plan for the district. The 59-member committee included key community leaders, teachers, students, parents, administrators, and members of each of the Victoria ISD Task Force groups.

The recommendations of the Visioning Committee were captured in the Findings and Directions.

As part of the System of Greater Schools (SGS), Victoria ISD will be going through the development of a formalized Strategic Plan during the 2019-2020 school year.

The VISD School Board Members each submitted two names to be part of this work. The committee will include key community leaders, teachers, students, parents, and of course representatives from each of our task force groups.

2019 Meeting Dates

  • Friday, December 13, 2019, & Saturday, December 14, 2019

  • Friday, January 17, 2020, & Saturday, January 18, 2020

  • Friday, January 31, 2020, & Saturday, February 1, 2020

The two-day session started with a presentation by Dr. Shepherd outlining our work over the past 18 months with various task forces (see the presentation recordings below). We also reviewed information from the “quality classrooms and quality schools” exchange, where over 1,200 thoughts were shared by over 1,000 people. We will be using that information to help guide our thinking. You can find those results on our Thoughtexchange webpage.

We are also using information learned through task force efforts to guide our discussions. The Strategic Planning process is being led by N2 Learning (Roz Keck) and the SGS Executive Advisor (Duncan Klussman). On January 18, 2020, N2 Learning has contracted with John Tanner to be a guest presenter to help the strategic task force members think about community-based accountability structures. On January 31, 2020, N2 Learning has contracted with Eric Sheninger (International Center for Leadership) to present to the group.
