F. W. Gorss

When the doors open for the first day of school, 3-year-old VISD students will grace the halls of the new Early Childhood Center at F.W. Gross.

The Early Childhood Center at F.W. Gross will begin the journey of students Finding Their And and lay the foundation for future learning.

In Pre-K 3, children begin to learn how to listen, read, write and speak. They begin a fun and engaging school experience where they will learn many skills which will lay a foundation for future learning. In addition to literacy, physical development, math, and science, students will also learn about health and wellness, such as emotions, health and hygiene, and relationships with others.

This year VISD will continue its relationship with BCFS. VISD’s partnership with BCFS provides aid in ensuring that the Pre-K 3 students are taken care of when it comes to their health, safety, and wellbeing. BCFS also provides the Frog Street curriculum that VISD Pre-K 3 uses. In addition, they provide supplies to help with potty training, family specialists to help with concerns that families or parents may have, and more.

Attending high-quality prekindergarten is making the most of the “window of opportunity” for children in that age range. Pre-K 3 helps in building their confidence in learning and as students, resulting in a positive relationship with the school.

“It’s the beginning to the start of finding their “And,” said Carol Dippel, Early Childhood Coordinator at VISD.

The Early Education Center’s school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. and they are located at 1208 S. Navarro. For more information on the Early Childhood Center at F.W.
