VISD to Utilize Hybrid Instruction Waivers During State-Mandated STAAR Testing

Victoria ISD will take advantage of the Texas Education Agency hybrid instruction waivers in order to ensure social distancing on campuses during STAAR test administrations.

Victoria ISD will take advantage of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) hybrid instruction waivers in order to ensure social distancing on campuses during STAAR test administrations.

TEA announced in January that in order to ensure equity for all, students must be monitored during state testing by a trained test administrator on campus. VISD would like as many students as possible participate in STAAR and STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) assessments this spring in the safest testing environment possible.

For this reason, middle school campuses will participate in hybrid instruction during May STAAR testing days and high school campuses will participate in hybrid instruction during STAAR EOC testing days in April and May.  Under the current law, students are required to perform successfully on EOCs to meet state graduation requirements.

Elementary and secondary campuses will provide parents/guardians with additional information specific to their campus no later than Monday, March 22.
