With graduation just around the corner, Victoria ISD has proudly wrapped up its second year of Operation GownShare—an initiative rooted in community spirit, educational equity and the belief that every student deserves to cross the stage with pride.
Launched in 2024, the GownShare program was created to help alleviate financial barriers some students face when it comes to purchasing graduation attire. Thanks to generous donations from families, alumni and community members, VISD was able to collect an incredible 115 gently used gowns this year—more than double the amount received in its first year.
“Graduation is a momentous occasion, and we want every student to feel celebrated and confident as they take that walk,” said Brandi Henke, Director of Counseling. “The outpouring of support from our community shows just how deeply invested Victoria is in the success of its students.”
Each donated gown was carefully inspected by the VISD Connections team and professionally cleaned to ensure it was ready to be worn again with honor by a graduating senior. The classic gown design, which has remained consistent over the years, allows the district to repurpose gowns with dignity and ease.
Operation GownShare is more than just a sustainability effort—it’s a celebration of community generosity and a commitment to removing barriers to student achievement. With the Class of 2025 preparing to toss their caps and turn the page, the support of local donors has made it possible for every senior to experience this milestone moment without worry.
VISD extends heartfelt thanks to all who donated and supported this meaningful initiative. Your kindness is helping shape futures—and for that, we are deeply grateful.
