Victoria Independent School District has once again been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
This marks the seventh consecutive year that VISD has received the prestigious designation, a testament to the district’s commitment to providing high-quality music education for all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, school districts must submit a detailed application highlighting their music education programs. Victoria ISD provided data on funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, program support, and community music initiatives. All responses were verified by district officials and reviewed by the arts education research firm WolfBrown.
The Best Communities for Music Education Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who work together to ensure that music education remains a vital part of the core curriculum.
Extensive research has shown the academic and social benefits of music education. Studies reveal that students involved in music demonstrate enhanced brain processing of speech, improved reading scores, and greater everyday listening skills.
Victoria ISD is proud to offer robust music education opportunities across all grade levels, reinforcing the district’s belief that the arts are essential to student development and success. This continued national recognition reflects the dedication of VISD educators and the support of a community that values the role of music in shaping well-rounded, future-ready students.
