visd november champion of the month

On Friday, November 4, Victoria ISD selected Florence Stone, a bus driver and trainer in VISD’s Transportation Department, as the November Champion of the Month.

VISD and Atzenhoffer Chevrolet partnered in May 2021 to highlight one VISD staff member each month as its Champion of the Month. This staff member is nominated by their peers for showing commitment to going above and beyond in everything they do each and every day.

At VISD, we know our best work is done in partnerships and groups, all while aiming toward a common goal. The goals of the district are larger than the team, and the goals of the team are larger than the individual. Our Champion of the Month lives this belief every day and in turn, receives a brand new Atzenhoffer Chevrolet truck to drive around for the next month.

Patrick Moeller, Assistant Principal at Victoria East High School, nominated Stone. “She has been my children’s bus driver for the past several years,” said Moeller. “Miss Flo does a wonderful job and treats all the students that she delivers to and from school like family. This relationship with students and parents is especially important since she is the first and last person that they see every day.”

When asked how she felt after being honored with this award, Stone simply stated, “I’m just blown away!”

Kristian Sailes, Special Needs Supervisor for the VISD Transportation Department, also nominated Stone. “Flo (as many people call her) is such a positive force in our department,” said Sailes. “The love and compassion she has for her students and their families isn’t a role that’s written in an employee handbook or a job description…I don’t know about you, but we could all use a little Flo in our lives and our departments!”

From VISD, we thank you, Florence, for making us #VISDProud!
