VISD CTE Cosmetology Mannequin Contest

Last week, VISD Career & Technical Education (CTE) Cosmetology students competed against each other in a group mannequin decorating contest. The students were able to put their artistic skills to the test by decorating an entire mannequin head with full cosmetic effects and were also asked to name their project.

On Wednesday, October 12, and Thursday, October 13, VISD administration employees were able to view the projects and cast their vote for their favorite decorated mannequins, ranking their top three picks in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Winners were announced on Tuesday, October 18, after all of the votes were counted.

1st place mannequin went to Haylee Felan, Mallory Ozuna, and Andrea Chavez Ortiz with “Hallow Head.” Their mannequin was made up to look like a scarecrow and was decorated with flowers, berries, and ribbons in orange, yellow, brown, and cream colors.

2nd place went to Jordan Delagarza, Guadalupe Huerta, and Yurianna Granados with “Rosa Sugar Skull.” Their mannequin was made to look like a skull with rhinestones around the eyes, sparkly flowers painted on the forehead and chin, and flowers on the head.

3rd place went to Lina Rodriguez and Mya Ramirez whose project was titled “Gnome Garden.” Their mannequin was green with purple eyelashes and red lips, “hair” made to look like grass, flowers throughout the “hair,” and a small house with two gnomes and a welcome sign.

Congratulations to the winners! We are #VISDProud of your hard work!
