JUNE CHAMPION OF THE MONTH

Victoria ISD and Atzenhoffer Chevrolet are continuing to recognize a Champion of the Month throughout the summer, focusing on departments that work year-round at district campuses and facilities.

On Wednesday, June 1, Victoria ISD selected the June 2022 Champion of the Month with Michael Filip, a custodian at the Victoria ISD Administration Building, receiving the honor.

VISD and Atzenhoffer Chevrolet partnered in May 2021 to highlight one VISD staff member as the Champion of the Month each month. This staff member is nominated by their peers for showing commitment to going above and beyond in everything they do.

At VISD, we know our best work is done in partnerships and groups while aiming toward a common goal. The district's goals are larger than the team's, and the team's goals are larger than the individual's. Our Champion of the Month lives this belief every day and, in turn, receives a brand new Atzenhoffer Chevrolet truck to drive around for the next month.

When asked how it feels to have been honored with this award, Filip stated, “I was very surprised! It makes me feel like I am important and well-liked and that makes me very happy.” Filip said, “Everyone in the admin building is very friendly and I feel very appreciated.”

Filip received one of the five nominations across the district for June and has been nominated during previous months.

Staff can catch Michael anywhere in the Admin Building with a smile and a wave at any given time. He will go out of his way to pop in and say hi, which makes everyone feel special.

Gail Proctor, a federal & state compliance secretary in Child Nutrition, nominated Filip. Proctor commented on Filip’s helpful, caring, and eagerness to offer service no matter the staff to employees around the building, stating, “He performs above and beyond in his job duties every single day, always has a smile on his face, and shares encouraging words to anyone that needs it.”

From VISD, we thank you, Michael, for making us #VISDProud!
