2021 bond election

According to the preliminary elections provided by the Victoria County Elections Office, 43.85% of voters were in favor of the Victoria ISD bond Proposition A, and 56.15% of voters were against it. The proposed projects in the $156,845,000 bond included the new builds of Mission Valley Elem and Stroman Middle School, district-wide priority repairs, and new playgrounds at all elementary schools.

“I want to personally thank every person who made their voice heard and participated in this process,” said Superintendent Quintin Shepherd. “Over the past three years, we have worked hard to build an ownership culture around everything we do. The outcome of the vote tonight represents the voice of our community, and for that, we are grateful.”

Victoria ISD School Board President Mike Mercer says despite the results of the election, he is thankful for the time, effort, and input provided by members of the Bond Planning Task Force, the VISD community, and VISD administrators and staff.

“On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, we are so grateful for the time spent and consideration given by our community on this issue,” said Board President Mike Mercer. “I look forward to continuing to work with our students, our parents and our stakeholders as we strive to provide the public school system our community expects and deserves.”
