Roberto Rosas

The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Roberto Rosas as the new Director of Multilingual Education for the district. The Director of Multilingual Education, formerly titled Director of Bilingual/ESL, was renamed to include all spoken and written languages within VISD.

Rosas is familiar with VISD, having spent the last eight years as a Dual Language/Bilingual
Teacher and most recently as an instructional coach, both for the district. Rosas also has
experience outside the classroom with fortune 500 companies and Mexico’s Ministry of
Agriculture. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business from St.
Mary’s University and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in
Leadership from Concordia University-Portland.

Tammy Sestak, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability, is
excited to have Rosas move into this role with VISD. “We look forward to having Mr. Rosas as
an integral member of our curriculum team,” Sestak said. With his leadership, we are confident
our multilingual education programs will continue to grow, and we will be able to offer enhanced
learning opportunities for our students and families.”

As Director of Multilingual Education, Rosas will lead his staff in the development, coordination,
and implementation of the district’s multilingual programs including, but not limited to, program
research and development, coordination of services, staff recruitment and retention, curriculum design, and talent development.

“I look forward to working with our remarkable faculty to continue to grow and evolve our
program to serve the needs of our students and families past and present,” Rosas said. “My
passion for education, dedication to students, and commitment to supporting this wonderful
community and amazing faculty will ensure our multilingual program continues to flourish.”

His first day in this position was July 5.
