VISD Continues to Enhance Campus Safety with Additional Fencing Measures

In a continuous effort to prioritize the safety and security of our students and staff, Victoria ISD is implementing additional fencing measures around campuses and facilities across the district.

These measures will include the closure of all campus tracks, including the Stroman Campus track and Liberty Campus track, to the public during school hours, ensuring a safer environment for everyone within our educational community.

For the 2023-24 school year, all campus tracks will be closed to community members and pedestrians during school operating hours. The tracks will be open prior to school start times and will reopen once campuses have dismissed for the day. This initiative has been undertaken to create a more secure environment for students, faculty, and staff, allowing them to focus on their educational pursuits without compromising safety.

The decision to limit access to the tracks during school hours was made after careful consideration of various factors, including the potential risks posed by outside individuals on school premises. By restricting access to campus tracks, VISD aims to prevent unauthorized visitors from entering the campuses and ensure that students and staff can engage in their activities without any concerns about external interference.

"While we value the support of our local community and their desire to utilize our campus tracks, the safety and security of our students and staff are paramount," said Sherri Hathaway at Victoria ISD. "These additional fencing measures are part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for everyone."

Community members are encouraged to make use of the campus tracks during non-school hours, weekends, and holidays, when they will be open to the public. By adhering to the new schedule, community members can contribute to the overall security of the district's educational facilities and ensure a seamless educational experience for all.

Victoria ISD remains dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of learning that promotes both academic and personal growth. These enhanced security measures reflect our unwavering dedication to maintaining a safe environment for all members of our community.
