Kathy Bell

Kathy Bell was born and raised in Victoria, Texas and attended Dudley Elementary, Patti Welder and Stroman High Schools. She then attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. To further her education, she attended Corpus Christi State University and received a Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction with a Supervision endorsement. 

She began her teaching career in Corpus Christi where she taught for 15 years. Teaching in a large district, abled her to experience various situations such as, bullying, gangs in schools, dress code and low performing schools. 

Mrs. Bell continued to be instrumental to the teaching profession by mentoring future teachers as well as seasoned teachers. She was a math manipulatives presenter for Region2 Service Center and model video middle school lessons for NEA (National Education Association). During this time, she also served as lead teacher and sponsored various student organizations and activities.  

For the past 24 years, Kathy Bell taught in VISD in elementary and middle schools. Bell assisted in writing benchmark assessments for the district and served as lead teacher. She was active in promoting numerous student experiences such as raising funds to allow students to take “extra” field trips to enhance their learning, assist organizing a student bible study group after school and a multitude of other activities. 

She received many awards during her career. The one she cherishes the most was being honored VISD Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2019. This recognition was extremely impressive knowing she was among extraordinary teachers. 

Kathy Bell has one son, Barrett Bell who is a senior attending West High School. They worship at Mt. Zion Baptist church where they participate in Sunday School, weekly meetings, sing in the choir and usher. 

Mrs. Bell was a classroom teacher for 39 years. This was a great privilege, as well as an invaluable life learning experience. She is grateful for the opportunity because teaching has been an amazing journey.
