State Senator Lois Kolkhorst visited Victoria Independent School District on Monday, March 23, touring elementary campuses alongside Superintendent Sheila Collazo, Board President Micah Patton, and Board Vice President Rick Jones.
The visit included stops at OโConnor and Torres Elementary Schools, where district leadership provided an overview of campus facilities and ongoing operations.
During the visit, Senator Kolkhorst and district leaders visited classrooms, observed various programs and services, and engaged in Senator-to-Student talks. The tour provided an opportunity to highlight the day-to-day learning environment and share information about VISDโs facilities and broader priorities.
โThank you to Victoria ISD for the opportunity to visit and see students and educators in action,โ said Kolkhorst. โIt is always valuable to spend time in classrooms and gain a firsthand understanding of the learning environment.โ
Superintendent Collazo noted the importance of showcasing campuses and connecting with state leaders.
โSenator Kolkhorstโs visit underscores the importance of collaboration between state leaders and our school district,โ said Collazo. โWe are grateful for her continued support and advocacy for public education. Our students and staff benefit greatly when state officials take the time to see our schools firsthand and understand the work taking place to support student excellence.โ
Victoria ISD continues to engage with local and state leaders to provide insight into district operations, student learning environments, areas of advocacy, and facility needs.
