Victoria ISD is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students in the P-TECH and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs as they prepare for future success in education, technology, and healthcare.
Seniors in the VISD P-TECH Education and Training program of study are taking major steps toward their careers in education. From completing fingerprinting and onboarding sessions to beginning their roles on campuses across the district, these students are already making a positive impact in VISD schools. These real-world experiences enable students to apply their classroom learning in meaningful ways, inspiring the next generation of learners.
This summer, VISD received results for P-TECH students who took AP Computer Science exams, and the growth was remarkable:
AP Computer Science Principles: 80% scored a 3 or higher, a 41% increase from last year.
AP Computer Science A: 63% scored a 3 or higher, a 42% increase from last year.
Honors Computer Science 3: 100% of students successfully passed their industry-based certification test.
These results showcase the dedication of VISD students and staff, and highlight the continued growth of the P-TECH Computer Science pathway.
Thirty-six students in the Practicum of Health Science class at the CTE Center earned their Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification. Over the course of 4.5 hours of training, students learned to perform CPR both individually and in teams, gaining vital, life-saving skills. Each student who passed received a BLS Provider card, valid for two years, giving them a valuable credential as they prepare for careers in healthcare.
These accomplishments reflect the excellence, hard work, and future-ready preparation of VISD students.
At the end of the fall semester and into the spring, students will begin CTE tours and attend presentations on these programs as part of planning for course selection.
