VISD was honored to partner with CivilCorp LLC this school year as a practicum worksite for our students in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) career cluster.
At Civil Corp, students are able to work alongside land surveying and engineering staff, learning how to work in a team environment. The work produced by students is incorporated into Civil Corp surveys and engineering projects.
“We hope that by introducing students to the civil engineering and land surveying field, we can help them gain an interest in these careers and someday return to our community as professionals in these fields, said CivilCorp President Ben Galvan. “Both civil engineering and land surveying are needed for the continued growth and development of land and infrastructure in the crossroads area.”
VISD and CivilCorp LLC will provide an opportunity to map the key skills needed to succeed in those positions and foster a partnership for additional student work-based learning experiences that extend beyond the summer experience.
VISD is committed to students Finding Their &. This is done through multiple opportunities of exposure and experience where students have the opportunity to explore and engage in opportunities for advanced learning. Through participation in practicum courses, students are given the opportunity to experience supervised practical application.
VISD is so happy to share that the CivilCorp practicum student from this past year has been accepted to Texas Tech University, where she will study Civil Engineering in the Fall.
