The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution during the November 20, 2025, Regular Monthly Board Meeting regarding Item “X. Closed Meeting, G, Possible Changes to VISD Trustee Voting Districts. The action was taken under the authority of Texas Government Code Section 551.071.”
The Board voted 4 to 2, with District 1 Trustee Kathy Bell and District 6 Trustee Margaret Pruett opposing. The resolution dissolves the current structure for Super Districts 6 and 7 at the conclusion of those terms in May 2028.
When the terms for Super Districts 6 and 7 are slated for re-election in May 2028, these two positions will transition to unnumbered, pure at-large seats. This means that beginning with the general trustee election in 2028, the two seats will be elected by all eligible voters throughout Victoria ISD, rather than by voters residing within the geographic boundaries of the two super districts.
The shift to at-large representation is intended to align future elections for these trustee positions with a districtwide voting model.
The Board authorized VISD Administration to take all necessary steps to implement this change. Administrative actions may include updating Board Policy, Board Operating Procedures, and other governance documents to reflect the new election structure.
