VISD Receives Fifth Consecutive "Best Communities for Music Education" Designation

For the fifth consecutive year, Victoria ISD has received a “Best Communities for Music Education” (BCME) designation by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation (NAMM).

The NAMM Foundation's "Best Communities for Music Education" (BCME) Award is a signature program of The NAMM Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools in the United States for the outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders, and their support for music education as an essential part of a well-rounded education.

To qualify for this honor, VISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute (MRI) at the University of Kansas.

“It is an honor to receive this award for the 5th year, a privilege to work with the amazing teachers and administrators that know the importance of Fine Arts, and a blessing to see the students in action to support the community,” said VISD Director of Fine Arts David Edge.
