The 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮 was🚂 FULL STEAM AHEAD 🚂 at the Children’s Discovery Museum Thursday, March 7th! More than 556 people (about 175 families) came and enjoyed the learning opportunities. All 3k, ECSE, PREK, and Kinder children were invited to a free evening of exploration and discovery.
The purpose was to acknowledge that the child’s first learning years are the most important and parents are the first and most important teacher. VISD wanted to help parents navigate through all the possibilities of Early Education and the child’s beginning to an “&”. 🍎🏡
Twenty community members set up informational booths outside and inside the museum to provide possible resources and activities for the families. Attendance posters were placed strategically throughout the museum with people sharing the importance of good attendance with future academic success. The VISD transportation department shuttled parents back and forth from the Fine Arts building to the Museum to alleviate parking problems and provide an element of excitement. 🚌 A new addition was the live entertainment provided for our children to see singing in a different light – huge hit! VISD Teachers, staff, and museum board members helped to facilitate the learning experiences.
Every child took home a science book and many learning activities. 📚 The survey from parents expressed appreciation of the event and how much they enjoyed the museum activities and the resource opportunities. VISD is “Full STEAM Ahead” making the most of the “Window of Opportunity” for our young learners. 🏫
