The Victoria East High School Choir earned 14 spots in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 14 All-District Choir following auditions held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Carroll High School in Corpus Christi.
Students from schools throughout TMEA Region 14, which extends from Victoria westward to Laredo and south through Kingsville and Corpus Christi, competed for positions in the All-District Choir. Students auditioned using selections from mixed choir, tenor-bass, and treble choir repertoire.
The mixed choir selections included Hiob, Mvt. 1 by Felix Mendelssohn and I Dream a World by Andrรฉ J. Thomas. Tenor-bass students prepared Serenade Italienne and Tuba, arranged by Barrett, while treble students performed Richer for Her by Ramsey and Freedom Train by Rollo Dilworth.
The Victoria East High School students receiving All-District Choir honors are Soprano I- Dora Trejo-Ramirez & Zoey Zamora; Mezzo Soprano-Delilah Banda, Kelsea Bonuz, Aliyah Cervantes & Rebekah Parker; Alto-Araceli Garcia, Bryzia Montes & Melody Ruiz; Contrato-Elizabeth Lott & Mariah Rosales; Countertenor-Jeremy Villarreal; Tenor-Sonny Esparza; and Bass-Derek Barrientez.
These students will advance to the All-Region/Pre-Area Choir auditions, which will be held November 7, at Carroll High School in Corpus Christi.
Director Michael Petrisky commented, โOur students did an excellent job. Give credit to the students for their hard work and preparation for this event. It is indeed a pleasure to work with such fine young ladies and gentlemen.
