VISD Invests in Employees graphic

At Victoria ISD, recruiting talented employees is only the beginning. Supporting them, investing in their growth and providing opportunities to develop throughout their careers are equally important to building a strong workforce.

That commitment is reflected in Strategic Priority 2: Empowered Staff, which focuses on cultivating a highly effective workforce through intentional growth and development where employees know they are valued.

For educators beginning their careers in VISD, that support starts early.

During the 2026โ€“27 school year, 83 first-year teachers across the district are receiving support through the VISD Mentorship Program. Experienced educators serve as mentors, providing new teachers with guidance, encouragement and a trusted resource as they navigate their first year in the classroom.

New teachers also have opportunities to continue developing their skills through the VISD New Teacher Academy. Two sessions were offered in August, beginning with a classroom management session attended by 74 teachers. A second session brought together 50 teachers for additional professional learning designed around the needs of educators beginning their careers.

Through New Teacher Academy, teachers are building their instructional toolkits with practical strategies for routines and procedures, time management, classroom management and developing strong partnerships with families.

These opportunities are part of a larger commitment to creating an environment where employees are supported not only when they join VISD, but throughout their professional journey.

That support also plays an important role in recruitment and retention. As VISD works to attract talented educators and staff to serve students across the district, providing meaningful professional learning, strong leadership, mentorship and opportunities for continued growth helps create a workplace where employees can build their careers and make an impact.

Investing in employees ultimately means investing in students. When teachers and staff have the support, resources and opportunities they need to grow, they are better equipped to provide excellent experiences for the students and families they serve.

Through mentorship, professional learning and continued opportunities for growth, VISD is working to develop and retain a strong workforce while ensuring employees know their work is valued and their growth matters.
