Mr. VanHook attended school in Waco, Texas, completing elementary and high school at Richfield High. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion at Liberty University and is currently enrolled in Truett Seminary working on his Master of Divinity degree.
Mr. VanHook has been a pastor for 30 years, with 18 of those years as a bi-vocational pastor. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor for St. Peters Baptist Church in Victoria. Previously, Mr. VanHook worked for the Veteran Administration Hospital in Waco for 30 years in the Community Resident Program, the PTSD program as a Medical Administrative Support, and as Director of a community residence home.
Mr. VanHook has served on the VISD Board of Trustees for ten years. He is a 2014 graduate of Leadership TASB, a unique board development program designed to take experienced board members to a new level of service and leadership by exposing them to a variety of issues, people, activities, and locations during a year-long program. Class members are selected for demonstrated leadership in their local district and communities, and for their representation of the diversity of Texas school districts. Mr. VanHook was also actively involved with Parents for Public Schools for ten years.
Kevin’s wife of 40 years is Carol Worthey VanHook. They have two children, Kevin VanHook II and Chelsea VanHook Swenney, and three grandchildren.
