Dr. Estella De Los Santos was born on August 31, 1955 to Luis M. Palacios and the late Julia H. Palacios. Her stepmother is Dolores C. Palacios. Estella has been married to Rudy De Los Santos since 1973. They have two children, Carol and Eric; a son-in-law, Tim Rains; and one granddaughter, Adriana Marie Rains.
Estella attended elementary schools in Palacios, Tx. After moving to Victoria, she attended Patti Welder Jr. High School and graduated from Stroman High School in 1973. She earned her Associate in Arts in 1976 from the Victoria College. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1977 and her Master of Education degree in 1983 from the University of Houston-Victoria. She achieved the Education Doctorate degree from the University of Houston main campus in 1994.
Dr. De Los Santos has teacher certification in the following areas: Elementary General, Elementary and Middle School Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics, and Secondary Computer Information Systems. She taught elementary school, middle school mathematics, and high school mathematics and computer science for the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) from 1977 to 1991. She has been a mathematics instructor for the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Houston-Victoria since 1991.
