Nora DeLeon (F.W. Gross) and Martha Ramos (Shields) worked diligently to create these lessons from Common Sense Media. This website is an excellent resource for parents as well as educators. The lessons below will be taught to address the four areas mandated by the state of Texas for Internet Safety: Appropriate Online Behavior; Cyberbullying; Digital Citizenship; and, Social Networking. There are three (3) units containing five (5) lessons each. (Kindergarten has only one lesson in each unit.) The PowerPoint presentations include teacher notes and can be taught by any of the following: teacher, librarian, computer lab facilitator or counselor. Each unit has a suggested teacher. Remember, these are options that have been input into PowerPoint for ease of use. You can, however, use other lessons as long as they address the required topics listed above.

To download the lessons, click on the link and choose “Save As” from the dialog box. It would be best to create a folder titled, Internet Safety to save all presentations in one location. If you have any questions or issues, please contact Linda Dueser (361-576-2019).
