VISD Annual Athletics Physicals Event Cancelled
Message from Athletic Trainer, Ron Davis:
Good Afternoon everyone,
We had hoped to be able to give good news and a little help to our student athletes as we prepare for the upcoming seasons. After communicating with our local hospitals and with all the Athletic Trainers here in VISD, we have had to make a decision in regards to hosting a mass Physical for all of our students that would be in need of getting a new physical for the upcoming school year. With how spread thin our medical community is because of COVID-19 we are cancelling our proposed date of August 1 and will not be rescheduling that date.
We are aware that this might put some of our students in a bind but we just cannot get the resources together in order to host such an event. Please tell you students to make contact with their primary care physician and get one completed. As a reminder the UIL has given us some exceptions for this coming school year.
If a student had a physical done for the 2019-2020 school year then their physical is still valid unless they have underlying medical issues that have or are being treated by a medical doctor ( sickle cell, cardiovascular issues or any chronic issues that has been discussed by the Athletic Trainers) or they have had a surgery of some sort since their previous physical that is on file with the Athletic Training Staff.
All students must have a physical on file with the Athletic Trainers prior to their participation on August 3rd or after. They must also complete any and all paperwork on rankonesport.com. If you have any questions please feel free to contact on of your Athletic Trainers.

Sports Camps Temporarily Suspended
Victoria ISD will temporarily suspend all summer strength and conditioning camps and sport-specific workouts, for at least two weeks. In our effort to be transparent with our families and community, a student-athlete and coach in separate camps tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Another student-athlete was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. None of the positive cases were contracted on campus or at the voluntary practices.
This precautionary measure is in the best interest of the safety, health, and well-being of our students and staff. We commend our coaches and athletes for always adhering to and implementing the safety guidelines the University Interscholastic League (UIL) has set forth. We greatly appreciate their efforts in the past few weeks, as they have been diligent in keeping our students safe.
Coaches are communicating with the student-athletes and their parents. We anticipate resuming strength and conditioning and sport-specific camps on July 13, if it is deemed safe to do so.
