Summer School Information

All VISD Summer School Programs will be remote learning.
Students must be enrolled in VISD and have access to technology/internet to complete the remote learning curriculum. If your child will need a device, please indicate this on your registration form, or contact your campus counselor. More information on student technology distribution for summer school will be released the first week of June. 

Elementary Summer Bridge Program

Length of Program: June 29 - July 24
Groups may meet for the entire period or for a portion of the time period (2 – 4 weeks). The tutorials will consist of one hour of daily virtual interactive tutoring and will be offered for students who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten – 5th grade.Instructional materials will be provided by the district.
 
Criteria for participation in Summer Bridge will include:
  • Recommendation from teacher.
  • Commitment from parent to log student in to Teams and ensure student participates in daily tutoring session for 1 hr (for a min of 2 weeks).
  • Access to laptop/tablet and internet - If the student/family does not have access to a laptop or tablet, the district will provide a laptop or tablet and internet access for the family to checkout. 
  • Student willingness to participate in online tutoring session(s).
Registration
Initial scheduling will occur at the campus level May 13 – 28.  Teachers will receive schedules and group information by June 4th. Parents will be contacted during the week of June 15th to finalize registration and schedule pick up of instructional materials. 

Middle School SOAR Camp (Summer Online Academic Readiness)

Length of program: June 8 - July 2
    • Week 1: June 8 - June 11
    • Week 2: June 15 - June 18
    • Week 3: June 22 - June 25
    • Week 4: June 29 - July 2
6th, 7th, and 8th grade will offer all four core courses during the summer: Math, English/Language Arts, Science, and  Social Studies.
 
Registration
Middle School Campus Counselors will contact parents to register students via phone starting the week of May 11. If the student/family does not have access to a laptop or tablet, the district will provide a laptop or tablet and internet access for the family to checkout; please let your counselor know.

High School Summer School Programs

    • Morning session: 7:30am - 11:30am

    • Morning session: 7:30am - 11:30am
    • Afternoon session: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Credit Recovery
Cost: FREE
If a student failed a course during 2019-2020 school year, they are eligible to enroll in Summer School without cost.  Register at VISD.net or your home campus website.  Your student will be contacted by June 4th with summer school schedule and instructions on how to login to their courses.

Accelerated Learning (Early Credit)
Cost: $175.00 per course
Register online at VISD.net or your home campus website. Your student will be contacted by June 4th with summer school schedule and instructions on how to login to their courses.

  • Geometry
Accelerated Learning will be administered by certified teacher through Microsoft Teams for 1st semester only. Student is expected to login daily and work on their courses during their scheduled hours.
