Students have the opportunity to enroll in Pre-AP courses during middle and high school in order to prepare them for subsequent Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school. After completing an AP course, VISD will pay for students to take the corresponding AP exam. Students with a qualifying score are eligible to earn college credit at the college or university of their choice. Colleges and universities determine the specific credit earned.
We offer the following Advanced Placement courses each year. Students are encouraged to take the PSAT, beginning their freshmen year, to receive AP Potential data. This data gives students a list of AP courses in which they show the potential to be successful, providing guidance for course enrollment.
