63 students participated in a seven-day summer Aquatics course that was provided as part of a CO-OP grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. The course focused on outdoor education experiences with a field trip to Riverside Park, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and the community service project at Invista Wetlands.
At the Park and Refuge the students seined, kayaked, water quality tested, bird watched, nature hiked and learned to cook outdoors. At the Wetlands they built bird nesting structures to be placed at the Wetlands and at Coleto Creek Reservoir. The four classroom days were filled with labs and hands on activities. The students earned 1 science credit for mastering the Aquatics TEKS.
